Where the Wildlife Roams Among the Pumpkins

The weather here has quickly taken a dramatic turn and has become markedly cooler. I know autumn isn't nearly over--calendar wise--but the temperatures are surely refelcting winter. However, we took advantage of a clear day to venture out and enjoy an autumn afternoon at a pumpkin patch that was new to us. This patch was a bit of a drive, but the uniqueness of its offerings were too intriguing to pass up.
Not only were we able to roam through a field of pumpkins to select our favorites and to take them home for food and seed, we also were able to interact with some non-traditional farm animals which was quite the treat.
The hayride took us out to see and feed the camels, emu, zebras, as well as pigs, sheep, and goats.
We also saw ponies, kangaroo, a large tortiose, reindeer, and miniature steer. The topper for the day was visiting with and feeding George the giraffe.
Though the animals were the definite highlight of the farm, we also wandered through the corn maze and identified wildflowers.
After we were done exploring the farm, we stopped for coffee and played a bit of chess while enjoying seasonal muffins before we made the drive back home.
The day was beutiful and though it was a bit chilly, the memories were worth the excursion. :-)
