Visiting the Birth Place

Hannah turned seven at the end of May and we took a little trip to help us celebrate.  Hannah, Riley, and I made a day trip drive out to Babyland General.  Now, if you were born at the right time, those words give you a thrill because Babyland General is the home of the Cabbage Patch Kids.  All Cabbage Patch Kids have their genesis at this beautiful mansion.
I had heard of this fantastical place before, but I never thought I'd actually go there.  When we were thinking of Hannah's birthday and what she would enjoy, I knew our little momma would love this tour.  Riley, being the tender heart that he is, was the perfect companion for the trip.  I was happy to see the home land of the dolls I so treasured as a kid.  I remember my babysitter taking a station wagon load of kids to the nearest Toys R Us for us to stand in line just so that we could sweep up and adopt our very own Cabbage Patch Kids.

Such a marked moment in my childhood and now I could actually take my original babies back to their starting point and share the history with two of my kids, kids who have played with my dolls for years.
We took my first Cabbage Patch Kid and my Koosa to visit Babyland General
The drive was long, but pretty.  Before we hit the road, we had a great lunch at the favored Buffalo's Cafe.
When we arrived, we were awed at the sight of the beautiful building.  The tour is self-guided so we had every opportunity to see every inch of each nursery room.

The kids thought that the wall of fame was fantastic, especially because it included people like Michael Jackson and George Lucas
All visitors must check in at the front desk

This location is so well done--even the entryway is captivating!
We were able to witness a delivery (the staff did a great job in taking their job seriously and using all of the correct Cabbage terminology) :-) and Riley's name suggestion was even used to name the newborn.  It was pretty exciting.

So many babies to adopt!

Meet Lavender Emma--the baby Riley helped to name.  Emma was his contribution.
The kids marveled at all of the adoption choices and surprised me when they picked simple little babies to love on.  Once their selections were made, we piled back into the car for the long drive home.

Once home, we enjoyed sharing our pictures and delivery video with the rest of the family.  When dinner was over, we enjoyed cake and gift opening.
Hannah received some great gifts but was especially enamored by a blue dress and crown that allowed her to look like a princess.  She instantly put it on and danced around saying, "I'm beautiful!" Yes girl, you are.  :)
Welcome to seven Miss H!  We love you much!
