Spring starts with a gala--or at least, it has for the last few years. John's company is part of a movement to better steward the earth, which is fitting for an organic soil company, and they annually take part in an event to bolster the mindfulness of earth care and to raise money for the cause. It just so happens that they do it with a high dollar event and John receives tickets to attend. John usually goes with Nikolas to enjoy the dinner event. Nikolas, by happenstance, forged a distinct relationship with one of the founding family members. Back when Nikolas was about ten, he assisted John at a convention and hit it off with Kathy as they bonded over compost knowledge (remember, organic soil company) and they've stayed in touch over the years. It's a special relationship and he looks forward to seeing her at these events. This year was extra special since Bethany was able to attend and to meet Kathy. They all enjoyed the special evening out on the town!
